Use headphones for added privacy.
Let others in your home know you’ll be in a session.
2. Prepare Your Technology
Ensure your device is charged or plugged in.
Test your audio and camera beforehand.
Close unused apps or browser tabs to improve connection quality.
3. Ensure a Strong Internet Connection
Sit close to your Wi-Fi router or use a wired connection if possible.
Turn off internet use on devices you’re not using.
4. Set Up Your Camera
Place your device on a stable surface.
Position the camera so your face and shoulders are visible.
Check your lighting so your face is clear.
5. Join a Few Minutes Early
Log in about 5 minutes before your appointment.
Use this time to settle in, breathe, and get comfortable.
6. Minimize Distractions
Silence your phone or enable Do Not Disturb.
Close messaging apps and disable pop-up notifications.
7. Have What You Need Nearby
Water, tissues, notebook, or fidget items.
Medication list if relevant to the session.
8. Maintain Comfort and Privacy
Use white noise or a fan outside your door if needed.
Let your provider know if you need extra privacy options.
9. Plan for Technical Issues
If disconnected, rejoin the session using the same link.
Keep your phone nearby in case audio-only backup is needed.
10. Treat It Like an In-Office Session
Arrive on time.
Be fully present and avoid multitasking.
Create a calm, supportive environment for yourself.
