About MeI'm a licensed marriage and family therapist. I use compassion, humor and my personal and professional experience to help individuals and families build on their strengths and help find resolution to a wide range of personal issues. It's my mission to help you stop playing small and to instead help YOU recognize your strengths and gifts and make space for yourself in this world. I specialize with anxiety, parenting, relational and work related stress. I provide individual therapy for adults and couples therapy. I've maintained a private practice for the past nine years in central Connecticut.
Throughout my career in the past 21 years, I have a wide range of work experiencing ranging from owning and practicing in a private practice setting, provided supervision for pre/post licensed therapists, worked in various outpatient community counseling settings, some including an extended day program for adolescents intensive outpatient program, co lead Scott Sells parenting group, provided intensive in home child & adolescent psychiatric services (IICAPS) with court based clients. I have also worked in a methadone substance abuse treatment center, a clinician and director for a Level II group home for adolescent females with behavioral and psychiatric issues and have worked in the behavioral health department for a large insurance company. These work experiences have helped build a great framework for understanding the various life's challenges that parents and families face. Therapy Style In my practice, I have the experience and ability to utilize the therapy model that best suits an individual's presenting symptoms or disorder. As I most often treat Anxiety disorders, I tend to use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution focused, Strength based and Relational therapies most. I help individuals and couples build on coping skills, address relationship problems, Issues surrounding parenting, family conflict, transitions in life, stress and self-esteem.
